Page Generator Pro alternative: how Townsmith compares
Page Generator Pro is built to generate pages at very large scale, with AI writing and a database of millions of places behind it. Townsmith Local Pages Engine is built to check every location page for sameness before it publishes. Which suits you depends on whether your problem is making the pages or making them worth keeping.
The details below come from WP Zinc’s own pages for Page Generator Pro and its free version, checked on 2 October 2026; prices and features change, so confirm them before you buy. We make Townsmith, so weigh our side accordingly. We have tried to describe Page Generator Pro the way we would want a competitor to describe us.
What Page Generator Pro does well
It has been around for years, and its feature list is broad:
- Content from many sources. Keywords and spintax, data from CSV, Google Sheets, Airtable, Notion or a URL, and AI-written sections through your own API key for OpenAI, Claude, Gemini and other providers.
- A built-in place database. 2.6 million cities, 45,000 counties and 250 countries, with ZIP codes and demographics, so you do not have to compile the list of places yourself.
- Any builder, any post type. More than 25 page builders including Elementor, Divi, Beaver Builder and Oxygen, and it can generate posts, WooCommerce products and custom post types as well as pages.
- Embedded local data. Google Maps, OpenStreetMap, Wikipedia, Yelp, YouTube and weather blocks that pull content into each page.
- Scale. Scheduling and drip publishing, related links between generated pages, multilingual support through WPML and Polylang, and WP-CLI generation that WP Zinc quotes at over 10,000 pages an hour.
You can review, edit, regenerate or delete pages before publishing them. Pricing is $99 a year for one site or $199 a year for unlimited sites, or a one-off $299 lifetime licence and $399 for the agency lifetime licence, with a 14-day money-back guarantee. There is also a free version on WordPress.org, called Page Generator, which generates pages only, without page builder support or keyword imports.
Where Townsmith is different
Page Generator Pro adds more ways to fill a page. Townsmith adds a way to tell whether the pages it made are actually different from each other, which none of Page Generator Pro’s listed features does.
- Every page is measured. A score out of 100 for how far each page differs from its closest sibling, compared five words at a time, how much genuinely local material it carries, and whether it clears a thin-content floor. The pages that read alike are named, with the sibling they copy.
- It shows you the sentences. Twin Finder highlights the exact lines a page shares with its nearest sibling, and the Safety Check gives the whole set a plain verdict before a search engine forms its own.
- It asks for a fact, not a rewrite. Spintax and AI change the words on a page. They do not add anything true about the place, and on a set of town pages that is what makes one page worth reading after another. Every Townsmith page starts with an empty local section that only you can fill, and the score weighs it heavily.
- No AI in the free plugin. It makes no outside calls at all. Pro has an optional assistant, off by default, that rewords a sentence you pick; it never writes a page.
- Edits are protected. Change the blueprint and you see what would change on each page first; blocks you edited by hand are never overwritten.
- The free version is the real thing. No cap on services, areas or pages, with the score, the checks, schema and internal links all included.

Every service against every area, each with its status and its score, so the weak pages are visible before they publish.

Which one to choose
Choose Page Generator Pro if you need pages for thousands of places you could never list yourself, if the pages have to be built in Divi, Oxygen or another builder, if you want AI writing built into the generator, or if you are generating posts and products rather than local pages.
Choose Townsmith if your pages are for the towns a local business genuinely serves, if you want to know which of them read alike before Google decides, and if you want the local schema, hub pages and internal links handled as part of the job. It fits a business with one base and a list of towns, a set of city pages, and with Pro, businesses with several branches. If you are also looking at LPagery, the LPagery comparison works through that one the same way.
Moving from Page Generator Pro
The pages Page Generator Pro made stay where they are; Townsmith only manages the pages it generates. To keep URLs that already rank, use the custom URL pattern to reproduce your old slugs under the same parent, so new pages can take over those addresses once the old ones are retired, with nothing to redirect. The URL structure guide covers it, and Pro’s CSV import loads a long list of areas at once.
Common questions
Is Townsmith a bulk page generator?
It generates in bulk, with no cap on pages, but it is built to make fewer pages that each hold up rather than as many as possible. Every page is scored and checked against its siblings before it publishes.
Does Townsmith use AI to write pages?
No. The free plugin contains no AI. Pro has an optional assistant, off by default, that rewords a sentence you select or suggests local questions for you to answer. It never writes a page or publishes anything.
Can I keep the URLs from my Page Generator Pro pages?
Yes. Choose the parent page and write the slug as a template from the service and area, matching the old pattern. Once the old pages are removed, the new ones sit at the same addresses.
Which is cheaper?
For one site, Townsmith Pro is £49 a year and Page Generator Pro is $99 a year, as listed on 2 October 2026. Townsmith’s free plugin has no page cap, so many sites never need Pro at all. Page Generator Pro also sells lifetime licences from $299.
